A natural method to restore skin vitality

At Cambridge Cosmetic Clinic

PRP skin rejuvenation is used medically to promote faster healing and aesthetically to stimulate growth factors in the skin. PRP contains a rich concentration of growth factors that may speed up or stimulate the healing process. This process increases the number of reparative cells in the body and naturally leads to a more youthful complexion. The treatment itself involves some of your own blood being taken and then spun in a centrifuge to separate the liquids within it. The platelet rich plasma produced is then re-injected into your skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

About PRP

  • How soon will I see the results of PRP?

You should notice the results within 1 week and continue to see improvements in skin texture over the period of 1 to 2 months after the treatment.

  • What will my PRP treatment plan look like?

The amount of PRP skin treatments can vary dependent upon the reason for the treatment which will be discussed at consultation. During each session blood will be drawn usually from your arm then placed in a centrifuge. The centrifuge will separate the blood components to extract the platelet-rich plasma (PRP). This will take approximately 10 minutes. The platelet-rich plasma will then be placed in a syringe and injected back into the face.

  • Is PRP treatment painful?

A topical local anaesthetic may be applied beforehand to minimise discomfort. Following treatment there may be some swelling, redness and bruising but this should settle.  You will not be expected to need any downtime following this treatment.

Your journey

Your consultation

As well as discussing your aesthetic goals, we’ll need to assess your medical history before PRP can take place. In certain cases, you may be advised to see your GP or dermatologist for further advice or investigation.

Your treatment

Blood will be taken from you, spun in a centrifuge for 10 minutes, and then the platelet-rich plasma injected back into your skin.

Aftercare

We’ll give you full aftercare advice following PRP treatment, which will involve avoiding avoid washing the treated area for at least 5 hours after your treatment to optimise results and avoid high temperatures such as saunas, steam rooms and exercise. Avoid makeup application for 24 hours to allow time for your skin to heal. If you have any concerns post treatment you can contact the clinic for advice.
